Mizar and Alcor (Zeta & 80 Ursae Majoris)
Located at the bend of the Big Dippers handle is the double pairing of Zeta and 80 Ursae Majoris also known as Mizar and Alcor. The ability to resolve both stars as a pairing has historically been used as a test of ones eyesight and used see if Roman soldiers had eyesight good enough to be placed onto sentry or scout duties with the garrison.
