Burnsides Bridge at the Antietam Battlefield
Many people translate Gettysburg as the turning point of the civil war......which it was in its own way......but if General Ambrose Burnsides troops did not make their heroic stand at this sleepy bridge in northwestern Maryland the war would have taken on an entirely different strategic tone.
